This popular village is renowned for being the largest in England. It is full of character including the large cricket green to its northern approach and its wide, level High Street including a varied range of shops catering for most everyday needs including three supermarkets. There is still a bustling market each Thursday situated within the Village Way car park.
The village has a leisure complex providing a swimming pool, gymnasium, squash and tennis courts and there are cricket, rugby and football clubs which many youngsters are encouraged to join with training provided.
On the outskirts of Cranleigh can be found Fernfell Country Club with eighteen hole golf course and its facilities. The village is spread out but because of the flatness of the surrounding area it makes it an ideal location for both young and old alike. There is a village hospital, doctors and dentist surgeries as well as a range of restaurants and public houses.
In addition, Cranleigh and the immediate surrounding area have a number of state and private school facilities to suit children of all ages. Churches of all denominations are found within the area.
